Meet Author Janice Hall

Janice Hall is an accomplished creative professional whose career in advertising has spanned production management, copywriting, and professional photography. That sharp eye for storytelling and human emotion carries over powerfully into her fiction, where she crafts narratives that are at once deeply personal and universally resonant. Alone in the Dark is her second book, following her debut, Along for the Ride: A Psychological Roller Coaster.

With Alone in the Dark, Hall delivers a novel that traces three distinct yet interwoven journeys: survival in a volatile, trauma bonded marriage; the weight of caregiving through a devastating illness; and the quiet, hard won quest to rediscover oneself after loss. Drawn to stories of resilience and transformation, Hall writes women's fiction that refuses to look away from darkness while ultimately steering toward hope. Her work speaks to readers who crave emotional depth, psychological complexity, and characters whose strength is forged in the most difficult of circumstances.

Born and raised in Chicago, Hall wrote both books while living in New Orleans, Louisiana, a city whose own layers of beauty and grit mirror the themes she explores in her writing. She now lives in Southern California.

Her background in visual storytelling and advertising informs a prose style that is vivid, precise, and deeply immersive.

Reader's Reviews

This book is a decisive and insightful study of narcissistic personality disorder. The focus of the main subject is Nancy- who was charming and beautiful- but lacking empathy…  This book is a crash course in the study of narcissism- the book is hard to put down as each section and chapter is spellbinding. Each section ends for the reader with the question- what will Nancy do next? Believe me- Nancy’s story belies any anticipated answer.
